Dolores Pye Josey
Dolores Pye Josey was a prolific artist, academic, and educator, who cemented her legacy in Delaware’s cultural landscape. Born in 1930, she resided in Wilmington for over 59 years, where she became a respected figure in the local arts community. Her work encompassed a range of mediums, including watercolor and oil painting, and she is known for her abstract modernist pieces. From a national perspective, Josey was a relative unknown who - in our humble opinion - was vastly underrated. This being said, her dedication to the visual and performing arts, coupled with her commitment to education, left a lasting impact on her community.
Died 2017 in Wilmington, DE
