Howard Schleeter
The 1945 Encyclopedia Brittanica referred to Howard Schleeter as “an artist’s artist”. The southwestern artist was fueled by a tenacious and industrious spirit. After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease later in life, he learned to paint left-handed, and even by holding a brush in his teeth. About his paintings, he said, “View these paintings with a clear mind and take only what they have to offer, never confusing realism with that which is not.”
Died 1976 in Albuquerque, NM
