Marvin Jones
Marvin Jones was a painter, printmaker, educator, and sculptor. He was inspired by the California Funk Movement, which formed in opposition to nonobjective, abstract art, prioritizing a personal relationship between art and artist. Jones taught at Cleveland State for many years. He infused character and light into eccentric forms, striving to convey that “the basis for comedy is tragedy and that the thing that is most unhappy is often the best occasion for a smile.”
Died 2006 in Cleveland, OH
